How to take alternator apart?

How to take alternator apart?

I want to take my alternator apart to polish it. How do you take it apart without ruining anything? Just unbolt everything? What about the fan???

Take the nut off the front, that gets the fan/pulley off, then four case bolts, remove the voltrage regulator and field, polish the cases, clean, lube the bearing and assemble.

Sounds easy enough....Any tips so I dont screw anything up or is it pretty straight forward...I dont want to be paying for a new alternator.
