How much would you pay?

Hello fellas -- sorry if this post is in the wrong spot. As you can tell, this is my first post. I searched the archives already, and even though I'm sure this kind of topic has been discussed before, I couldn't find any information on it, so please don't flame. And, if I posted in the wrong forum, just let me know and I'll go repost, but this one seemed to be the closest match. Okay, enough bs, here's the question:

How much would you pay for this lt1? I'm seriously considering it, but I think the guy is asking too much for it, so I figured I'd check with the experts. Here ya go:

95 lt1 w/ 60K and the following mods:

Ported heads 202/160 valves 275/195 cfm
Comp cams 305 cam
Roller rockers 7/16 studs and guid plates
$600 tcs TC
New opti spark and wires
52mm t/b (I thought the t/b was larger than this)

Here's a picture of the engine and a picture of the dyno sheet.

Sorry, I tried to post the images, but I suppose that is disabled on this forum? Or perhaps you use a different code?

Thanks and let me know what you think.

Re: How much would you pay?

Your talking about just the motor right?

That dyno is WEAK. stock heads with a cc305 should put down those rwhp numbers through an automatic.

Wink

i am always weery about people selling such nice modified, clean cars (even though all i saw was the engine)(or maybe its b/c i bought a GTA and the next week it was knocking a rod) how much is he asking..it looks good and clean..tell him you want a WARRANTY. Pay no more than 8.5k...take it to a mechanic who knows his LT1's and have him give you his advise. Looks good from the pic..nice and clean..tell him u want a maintanence history with reciepts as well

This would be for the motor and I believe a couple of accessories. This guy wants a little over $3,000 for it. I figured that would be too high, because I see low mileage lt1s going for around $1,300 on eBay, and I didn't think the other mods were that expensive. Wow, so all of you are saying I should pay $7-8k and he's asking a little over $3,000 -- I suppose I should go for it, huh?

i wouldnt spend 3000+ on a modified motor that I have no idea how ragged out its been. If its freshly rebuilt, then its all good. but if its used.........i would rather build my own motor with that kinda money. if its used........u dont know what kinda abuse that thing has been through (nitrous sprayed, over-revved maybe) and thats too much money to risk, I think.

Assume the thing has been ridden hard and put up wet. IE... look at this thing like it has been abused and will need a rebuild shortly. Offer him $1300 and don't go any higher than $1700.

yeah, dosent sound like a good deal for over 3K, maybe in the area of 1600 i would do it. Although i spent 3,400 on a 94 Lt1 engine with 80,000 miles, wait a sec, yea i got the rest of the great car with it with the upgraded hood. Better deals are out there, keep lookin' buddy.
