How much will these repairs cost me ?

Labor wise what do you all think(my mech. is a good family friend) he's about $45-50/hr

Distributor replaced
Water Pump
A/C compressor By pass pulley

I'm just kinda looking at a ball park price, and how long should it take a good mech. to do all that work ?

I really appreciate all the help i've got on here so far. You all don't understand how much I love this forum over all the other F-body message boards

$300 if its an opti and a 12 pack for him to actually come back to help again.
The opti and water pump should be about 6 hours by mitchel
a good mechanic with parts in hand could do it in 2. Add another .5 for the pulley.
If you pay him for 6 and he takes 2 he is worth the 12 pack.
Just my .02

I'm assuming we're talking about an LT1 camaro...
I'd say 4 hours, but I've done it many times before, you mechanic probably hasn't. The waterpump has to come off anyway to change the optispark, so zero extra time there.

A cam swap is a PITA because you have to do all of the above plus actually open the motor up (oil pan and timing cover) and remove radiator and swing the condenser out of the way. Took me and my buddy like all day to swap his cam.

Well he's actually real good with LT1 cars, When I took it over there I seen abunch of Lt1's laying around. He said he just got a free 60K mile LT1/AUTO out of a wrecked one because they were just going to scrap the car.

But yeah I'm hoping I can get away with about $200ish in Labor Only, It should be done tomorrow. Its my first Z28, I've always wanted one since i was 16, I'm 23 now. Got the car for 1400 cash. Its a mint polo green, 107K, M6,hard top, cloth interior all power. Only problems were the ones listed above and the pwr seat doesn't work. Plastic around the radio deck is cracked from the radio being stolen and it needs a new radio, I purchased it from an old guy and he had it for 4-5 years, he got it at 103,000. So I think I did pretty good.

if he is a friend he would do it for a 12 pack, like if u where my neighbor.. if he does this for his job and he was really good and you need a trustworthy mechanic, 200 would be a minimum. it might make him more of a friendly mechanic who you could trust if you added a 12er.
