Hey all!

So, the other night, I see smoke curling up from behind the headlights of my car. It looks badass, let me tell you. BUT, it also means that I'm leaking radiator fluid. How much should a new water pump cost, out the door? The local Chevy dealership called me today and they said that the water pump was the problem and I was looking at about $512 out the door. Anybody ever had it done before? Thanks for the help!

WOW. Autozone sells rebuilt one for around 60 bucks. puttin one in is not that hard. You can do it.

i paid 130ish for a lifetime warranty one, took me about a hour and half to install, it was pretty easy to do.

I just bought a rebuild from Autozone Monday. It was $49.99 plus a $15 core charge. A friend helped me, or should I say, I helped a friend put mine in. Took a few hours, but it is a lot better on the wallet than $500+ for a dealer to do it.

A brand new GM pump is ~$135 if you get it from Jason or Dal.

Go for an electric pump. a small HP gain, and they don't cost much at all considering you gain some power at the same time. I also ran cooler with my CSI

If you are willing to go back in for replacement if the electric one fails (none of the ones I've seen have lifetime warranties), then get it, as it does free up some HP.

As for me, when mine died I just got a reman. pump from Pep Boys for like $65. Lifetime warranty, the biggest pain was the installation. Luckily I had a buddy help me out, and we got it all done in an afternoon.

I just paid about 120ish for mine w/ a life time warenty. I definately considered the electric, but i didn't want for it to break and to have to spend the money again.

A valid concern... I believe the CSI is rated for 5000 hours, which is a LOT of driving... but if you really are worried then you aren't missing that much staying with a stock pump.
