How much lift can stock valve covers support?
How much lift can stock valve covers support?
I'm going to go with a CC306 cam, as it's about as high as I want to go for a street driven cam,
Lift on it is .510 and .540, but I'ma lso going with 1,6 ratio rockers for a higher lift.
So that puts me (around) .540/.570
Will I have clearance issues with stock valve covers? Here's my parts list
(Summit CCA-07-306-8) 306 Cam - $240
(Summit CCA-987-16) 987 Springs - $85
(LS1Speed CC1318-16) Pro-Magnum 1.6 Rocker Arms - $290
(Summit CCA-611-16) Valve locks - $26
(Summit CCA-503-16) Valve Seals - $25
(Summit CCA-740-16) Valve Retainers - $60
(Summit CCA-621-16) Valve Lash Caps - $35
(Summit CCA-7940-16) Chromoly Pushrods - $136
Total - $897 + Shipping

The valve lift won't be a problem, but you may have to do a little trimming to get those roller rockers under the stock valve covers. I did on my Stepson's '94 Formula. Not a big deal...it just took a few minutes with a pair of side cutters and a sinister, destructive grin on my face

Just as he said above. You have to make the center supports for the valve covers flat all the way down, so at the bottom they dont flare out parralel with the head. (Will make sense once you see it) Otherwise they wont slip between the rockers.
