how much HP is a stock clutch good for?
From what I understand you can't just measure how much HP you have to determine how long your clutch should last. You have to account for what kind of driving your doing (eg. racing vs. all highway) and mileage is also a factor. People here are running a stock clutch at 80K with 350 HP at the wheels. It is all reletive, but from what I hear the magic number is around 400 at the flywheel...all things considering. When I get my heads done and I'm about 360 or so at the ground I might change it.
With my mods (in sig.) mine lasted 7500 miles. I've made at least 25 passes on it at the track and drive fairly conservative on the road. But it decided to fry last friday and I smell it after every time I drive now. Drives fine on the road still. No good for the track anymore and thats what matters. 95TA8280 is right, it depends on what you do with the car.
