HOW much engine oil goes in a stock 5.7? (1996)
I need to change the oil, got some random oil filter, how much oil should i buy? Should i fill the filter before i put it on the engine or just pour it in the nozzle?

I fill the filter first, just saves the engine from starving for a second while filling it up on start up

after you have drained the old oil and taken off the old filter.
fill the new oil fliter, put the filter on, put in the oil plug, pour in the new oil.
i buy 6 quarts (sp?) put it 5 1/2 and top it off.
