How much different does a cat back make?

Hello,
Right now I have a magnaflow muffler, but with the stock pipe.

I am probably going to order a cat-back kit soon, I was wondernig how much of a different as far as noise goes will the catback make over just having a muffler?

I am doing it for the HP but just kinda curious about the noise factor.

"a cat-back kit"

exactly what kind of "kit" are you planning?

that's gonna determine the sound

if the muffler you have now is a straight through design...going from stock 2.75" pipe to 3", and running a good flowing muffler...you'll probably only see 5hp.

the muffler is the main restriction in the stock setup...not so much the pipes.

realize that going from bone stock to the best flowing 3" catback (LM or tsp rumber) is only gonna gain you 12-15hp at best...mostly due to the muffler

Hey Teke,
Thanks for the reply. Most likely I a was looking at doing a mangaflow catback, I heard they are the best bang for your buck.

Right now the muffler I have is a magnaflow straight through.

So probably I have allready got the HP I would have gained by just putting on the muffler? Do you think its worth then just adding a new pipe or no?

Just looking for ways to get HP with the basic bolt-on's, as right now I jsut have the magnaflow muffler and a cold air intake.
