how much $$ did i need to keep a Z06
in theory a good set of heads, full bolt ons ( headers ect) and a mild baby cam posibly a tune.... than again the camaro is alot hevyer
you would need a biger cam and 450 or so HP probly. a super charger or NOS would do the trick to

Put it this way....you need to be able to run 11's my good friend has a '02 ZO6 and he ran a 12.06@116 BONE STOCK down to the tires!
So I would say DR's, headers, Cutout, Cam, RR's, Springs, Good tune, and a 100 shot should get you running high high 11's!

Look at it this way, a Z06 is basically a good heads/cammed LS1, a few hundred pounds lighter then even a standard C5 and even better gearing. You would need a very good head/cam package along with the usual boltons to take one. In full track trim (weight reduction, skinnies, drs, no sway bar) I could just hang with one at the track, and my cars runs very well for just a hotcam and boltons. In full street trim it wouldnt be quite as close. Damn I want one of them.
i was able to edge on out on the interstate with my car being Bolt on (not even all of them)/CC306 on stock heads. Ran 12.7 @ 115 at the track on street tires.
Now being heads/cam it would be fairly simple
WE ARE TALKING BONE STOCK THOU hehe.

Ran 11.84 with a 1.76 second 60' in my 02'. Everything stock except for an MTI lid...... and stock tires. That was in very good air and with a good track.
That should give you an idea of what you're up against. Then again, alot of Vette drivers aren't very good drag guys. Expect high 11's to mid 12's.
Good luck.

First trip to the track with this car (had the lid) yielded a 12.58. So it's all about launch technique. Active Handling and Competitive driving mode makes the learning curve that much steeper until you figure out what works.
Hard as it may be to believe... there are guys who've gone quite a bit quicker than me on stock tires..... one in particular has gone 11.68 with low 1.7-sec 60' times on the stock run-flats. The number of guys going quicker grows every day.
Like I said, expect high 11's to mid 12's.
