you need to find out what the thread count is on your studs.
The 7/16 studs I am using have a 24 thread count. One full turn of the adjusting nut would be .060.

Yes, because there are only 20 threads per inch (at least the ones I have) as opposed to 24 for the 3/8 studs.

7/16-20 studs: 1 turn is .050"
3/8-24 studs: 1 turn is .0416"
If the TPI is 24, one turn is going to be .0416" no matter what the diameter is.

(Sorry to jack your thread)This explains a lot. I set mine to a half turn past 0 lash and they felt loose. I gave no thought to the thread pitch being different. I guess this means mine are too loose. So I should have more like a full turn.

Hold on....

WHY THE F&() WOULD YOU WANT .060" PRELOAD!!!! Put as little as possible in. Best power is at zero.

NOBODY should run them that far, let alone anything I design which is all setup for 1/16th to zero lash.

Now I am thoroughly confused. Shoebox's site says .00416. How many turns would that be?

depends on your studs....

On the LE cams you want them as close to ZERO as possible.

I have the 7/16 studs and comp rockers. I have them about a 1/2 turn past zero lash and they still seem loose.

I got the new gm race lifters and they call for .060 preload, and all the LSx guys run that kind of preload without any issues. My friend with out of the box afr 225's and a small 224/230 114lsa cam in his LS1 made 428rwhp through a turbo 400 and unlocked convertor with Comp R's and stock preload on his LS1. And crane made the most power with their lifters with .060 preload on an LS1. I'm just trying to understand why you want them at 0 lash.

because on a iron block motor when I've dynoed them on the engine dyno I start at 2/3rds of a turn (.030" preload) then back them off to zero I always find HP usually 10hp.

I just set the preload up when the motor is hot and everything works fine from there. It seems loose but it's not hard at all to do and get correct.
