How many people would pay upto the same price as a FAST LSX intake manifold ($750) for a similar manifold that would outflow a ported stock LT1 intake for the LT1 engine? Probably looking at around a 20hp gain or more.

If it were $750 for 20hp - I'd pass all day long. That's a sick price for 20 hp.

 

I'd like to see a dyno on a completely stock car to make me really want it.

 

i bought one for my 350z...id buy one for the camaro too...but not at that price....costs less than 150 to make them...id pay up too 400 dollars though

 

I'd love to see how it costs less then $150 to make them - espicially well. Like FAST's design for example. They arent making much on those.

20hp is not 20hp from other mods. A good intake manifold will get you 20hp and more tq across the entire rpm band, and increase overall efficiency of the motor. Much better then your average 20hp.

I would take one. As opposed to a $230 Lt4 manifold and then a few hundred to have it ported and welded? Why not?

Not to mention the design could accomidate other extreme advantages like burst plates, nitrous bungs etc.

 

I wish someone would do one but with the LSX engine out there the aftermarket for LT1 stuff is dying out now...too bad they did do one a while back.

 

I would buy one for the right price. I honestly dont know may people who would be willing to dish out $750 for an intake... including me. I realize there are advantages to having a composite intake but its just not woth that kind of money for most LTx owners. Being serious here I would be willing to go up to $400-450 for a composite intake. And I dont think it would be a problem selling them for around that price. Once you go over the $500 mark you are making people really step to a new level and alot of people wont go for it.

Also this depends on a lot of variables and how the intake actually performs. Just my honest opinion.

 

Well the stock intake's runners leave a lot of room for improvement.

there is alot of room for improvement on the stock intake. But the big question is could you do all the R&D... then actually produce one for a reasonable price. My guess is no. Thats why it hasnt been done yet.

Yhere is a price cap for everything... and an intake is probably around 400-500. Once you go over that I think its a whole new market of people to sell to.

If you can produce one for the price of 450... I will buy one instantly. Anything over that and I would rather just rework a stock manifold. Nowadays they are selling used for $50-75. Its just much cheaper to go that route.

I agree with the above, $500-600 limit. An LTx intake that worked with LT1 and LT4 heads would be great especially fixing that short runner issue.

 

With posted dyno and track gains on setups stock/mild to moderate/wild I think I would invest in one. Although being a new item on the market I would have to see legitimate gains since no one could say look what I gained from my Plastic Intake. Again price at $750 steep, somwhere in the $400 range would sign me up for one.
