i just bought a 95 Z with a 396 from Nu-tec performance. i was wondering how many ppl on here have 396's and what dyno #'s they were making and what there qtr mile time is? How they compare(if they do at all) with a 383. also has anyone ever had a problems with their 396's? thanks for the info.

i only got to drive mine for like a week before i put it in storage. but it was bad *** fast. it didn't get that much traction because it was only 50 degrees but i loved every minute of it. it has AFR aluminum heads 210 cc chamber with a ported and polished lt4 intake The clutch is a McCloud clutch with a billit flywheel rated at 1500hp. has a cam motion custom grind cam 614/ 620 lift. moroso 12 bolt with 33 spline and 430 gears. i think the 430's are too much but maybe i'm not used to the car yet. the guy had it dynoed at 510 at the wheels. and he ran high 11's on street tires. he has the build and dyno sheet for the motor and is sendin me 3:73 gears. i'm puttin drag radials on it to get some better hook. i know no one believes the 510hp but when i get the sheet i'll let everyone know for sure. thanks for the input you guys are awesome

That number is a bit low.. i think 450 is pretty attainable w/ the right h/c combo good luck with it..

Brent: I'm so itching to get it over with.. i'm stuck on heads can't decide... How big to go...

Tony: I plugged in that setup your going to run on the 383 into desktop dyno.. I'mnot saying this is completely accurate either!!! but it pulled 500fwhp.. so you'll def. be in there.. good luck with it...
