How to make a 52mm TB?

Ok, does anyone have instructions to do this? My Dad own a machine shop and could easily bore my 48mm TB out to a 52mm. Instructions would be great and also where to be the new "fins" that go inside. Thanks in adavance-------------> Brad

Hey, if your Dad has his own machine shop he should be able to figure out how to bore it out. You've got it easy with all the equipment available.

As far as I know, all that's needed is the overbore (of course), then fabbing up some throttle blades that will fit. Make them identical to the factory blades, just a hair larger.

Sounds like a plan, thanks for responding. I guess I was wondering mostly about fabricating new fins for it or if anyone sold tb fins just to make the job easier. Anybody know if 52mm is the most I can bore it out to or can I go larger? Thanks again ----> Brad

Maybe Shoebox or someone "in the know" will pipe in here, but I THINK you have to work out some minor details if going any larger on a stock TB.

Cool

52 is the biggest you can go without moving the bores inward. You can buy the blades pre cut from me 10 at a time at $15 each.

Good luck, it's alot more complicated to get a good throttle body without some serious R&D. I'll give ya a hand shake if you can figure out how to get it apart without cutting the shaft or anything on it
I spent a few hundred bucks on 5 throttle bodie before I ever got the flow I wanted and the blade tip in, etc perfect. Thats why mine f'ing rock Lol

I SWEAR that the car hasnt had a day at the track with more than 2 runs on it. I'm shooting for the 25th of october at tri-state. Im off work that night, so should be a good day to abuse the car and get plenty of runs in, both with and without the TB. I did make 357rwhp with stock heads and your TB, is that worth anything???

I took mine to a local machine shop, explained what I wanted done, and he did it. Cost for taking it apart, boring it out, puting it back together, and installing the blades I provided him-$100

Blades cost me $24(pair) from Arizona Speed & Marine.

Total cost-$124.

The guy had never bored out a throttle body before and it came out perfect.

BTW-$15 a blade!, 10 at a time! Wow.

Shannon knows im really happy with the TB. The bores are straight and smooth, blades are tight but dont stick. Speaking of the blades, the things he uses are SUPER thin. I would assume that splits the air cleaner and allows a tad more CFM to pass through. I know i used a BBK 58mm on a 383 i built, and the blades were much thicker. hope that helps a little.
