How long are starters supposed to last?
How long are starters supposed to last?
A few months ago I bought a new starter from autozone. Well I've been on vacation for 10 days so my car was just sitting, and I just went to start it but it won't start. All I here is a wizzing sound from the starter. Could the new starter be bad already? If it is what would be a better replacement then autozone?? Factory??
Re: How long are starters supposed to last?
Nobody knows how long rebuilt parts last.
For ~$150 you can get a new LT4 starter with no core charge.
I'm sure you can get your AZ starter replaced at no charge.

Re: How long are starters supposed to last?
I still have my original starter. Funny thing, I had replaced my original one when I did my motor, just for peace of mind. I bought this new starter from PaceParts, that they were offering for like $125.00 or so. Well, that thing didn't last a full year. It went south on me about a month ago. Luckily, I had kept my original one, and after one year in storage, it worked perfect, and it's been behaving so far.
If "VatoZone" has a good warranty, buy one from them. I couldn't believe PaceParts warranty on their starters was only 30 days!
Or better yet, get an original ACDelco from the dealer, or through Dal or Sam.

Re: How long are starters supposed to last?
My girlfriend is picking me up an LT4 starter from work, so hopefully it will start up when I pop it in. It seems like it always something with these cars. they never run 100%.
