How Long does a stock clutch normally last?
And...once it's gone...what clutch should you replace that will allow for some toys to be added in the near future....

Hmmm...
Mine is still stock at 143,000 but I'm getting slippage when taking off in 1st...I'm thinking of replacing it soon...Either Spec stage 2, centerforce, or SLP...
Have you noticed any slipping?
I guess what I'm noticing is slipping...I rev a little and if I don't release the clutch just right (baby it) I'll get a grinding sound...I guess this is slippage...

Yeah, it really depends on the driver and how the car is driven. If most of its life is on the highway or not. You will hear stories of people that went through 3 clutches in under 25,000 miles and on the other side of the spectrum people with 170,000 miles on a stock clutch. Average life is usually about 50,000 miles for the factory clutch, allowing for those times when you gotta show somebody how its done with a hard launch and considering that usual i got a new f-body gotta go melt the tires period.
One thing is for sure, if your clutch has started to slip, you best refrain from driving it hard, cause it wont go much further if you drive it hard. My clutch went for 15,000 miles after it started slipping, before it slipped real bad i decided to get it replaced. Even then, the day it went to the shop it was still driveable.

That sounds like you are into the rivets and soon that will mean a new flywheel too.

I've got 74k on my car on the stock clutch. I've got a new Star Stage 3 in the garage waiting to be installed.
I got my car at a babied 36,000 miles, and now have almost 40k worth of hard driving and over 170+ passes down the strip. It only slips now in 1st using Drag Radials at the track. So I'm not hittin' the track again until I get the new clutch installed.

84,XXX miles here on a stock clutch..
I just installed a Mcleod 7,500 single disc and SLP modified pressure plate ( resurfaced the stock Flywheel)
The Mcleod single is a neat looking disc..Organic Material on the pressure plate side and 10 ceramic pucks on the flywheel side.
This seems be a fairly aggressive pad as it grabs like hell.
If you clutch is grinding there YOU NEED TO GET IT OUT NOW!!!
Could be a # of various things from the rivits on the pad to bearings!!

Mine went at 50k. It wasn't really the clutch that went, the input shaft on my trans leaked fluid onto the disc making it slip. The disc itself looked like it could have gone another 50k compared to the new stock disc. Went with the SLP clutch, it's holding good so far.
