How to install Long tubes on my 96 Lt1
How to install Long tubes on my 96 Lt1
I Got Pacesetter long tubes, and i was hoping to be able to install them myself and just pay to get them welded to the Y pipe. any suggestions or maybe a list of things i have to remove to install them myself?

Most important tip: Spray down all of the old factory hardware with a good rust penetrant such as PB Blaster.
As for the actual installation, I had to remove the TCS motor, steering linkage, oil filter, plugs and wires on the drivers side and I put the header in through the bottom. The passenger side I removed the valve cover, alternator, starter motor, oil dipstick, plugs, and wires and I got that header in through the top. Another tip is if your headers are ceramic coated, try to tape the headers themselves or put some rags or something on the sharp "catch points" in your engine bay so you don't scratch up your new headers!
I used 3" band clamps to seal the entire exhaust and I have no leaks with them whatsoever. No welding was necessary in my case. You may need to have your y-pipe welded to your catback at the very least. Its not a difficult job, just a little time consuming. Also, dont let that tight engine bay intimidate you, its not as bad as it looks.

Don't know what kind of collectors ya got,but if they are streight pipe get an adaptor and weld the adaptor to the Y pipe and get some stainless band clamps to attach them to the headers. That way if ya got to ever take them off ya can.If the y is the same size as your collectors you are good to go.
