How to install the hub corretly

What do you use to install the hub on lt1, because I know a conventional balance installer won't work. I know you can use a hardened stud but I can't seem to find one around here. Any idea on how to do it.

I put it in place with just my hands, then pounded it on a little bit using a block of wood and a hammer, then used the stock bolt to pull it on the rest of the way.

Take a torch heat it up some and slip it on, by far the easiest way to do it.

Note to self, wear gloves or some type stove pot pad so you wont burn your hand.

BFH.

It was so tight using a bolt or threaded rod to pull it on, and i didnt want to f the crank threads up. so i just beat it on with a hammer, probably not a good idea but it worked

Using allmotorta's method I stripped my stock crank.
MAC tools sells a crank installation kit that I believe can be used... but I've never tried it myself.

The problem for the LT1 folks, is that the adapters that screw into the front of the crank on most of those universal install tools are not long enough. Our hub is not wide open in the center like an old SBC balancer, so the adapter must be longer to thread through. It's that same thing that causes the hub to be such a pain to remove also. This is why people resort to beating them on.

I find it interesting, that the book method to put the crank gear on is to beat it on using an adapter tool, but not so on the hub. The crank gear does not take as much force to put it on, though.
