How important is the plate between bellhousing and engine. (and whats the part #?)

How important is the plate between bellhousing and engine. (and whats the part #?)

It didnt come with my conversion kit. I know it is probably really important as to not get crap all over the clutch. Im just making sure I have to have it.

BTW- Anyone know the part number and how much they cost?

Sounds like it. It's usually called an inspection cover.

You'll definitely want it. I left mine off after my swap and now I regret it. Although the clutch is getting back to normal now that it's on. Water and other contaminants will make it slip, then before you know it you want to launch your car and instead you're wondering why your car shakes when you try to take off.

are you talking about the lil inspection cover on the bottom of the flywheel area? Or the big plate sandwhiched between the motor and transmission? (not sure if LT1s have the plate sandwhiched inbetween but i know on the 5.0 stangs i worked on they had em.)
