how to identify a delphi opti?

ok, I'm fixing to purchase what I think is a delphi opti. From what I understand a delphi has the maze on the cap, you can see the routing of the wire in the cap. The ac delco was the brown one, next is the plastic that you plug your opti harness into white or black. Anythink else I need to know? Since the main supplier of delphi optis is no longer selling I think everyone should be sure before they buy. Thanks

Are you getting a good deal on price? Cause Summit has genuine GM optis.

I've found some on ebay for around 300, and have also heard of guys ordering what they think is a "real" gm opti and get a knock off or non gm,

Well you can role the dice and buy the $300.00 one BUT if it doesn't work. Then you end up buying the $459 original. So your out 759. Or you can just get the original and only be out $459. And you are buying from a very reputable source. No need to worry about replacement. You could use gmpartsdirect to save $19 more but I think Summit's reputation is superior to gmpartsdirect.

Just for laughs, I can't wait to see how many peeps buy this one:

This ought to be entertaining.

It does have a one year warranty but good luck to anyone who buys it getting a replacement/refund.

Well im in the same boat to buy that ebay one. im sick of these GM optis crapping out every year on me. yes every year. I put about 2k-3k miles on my car a year and it seems like once a year im replacing a failed opti. In the past 3 years i have replaced 3 GM optis. couple ppl on this board have gotten ones from easy4auto and still going strong with them. they have alot of good feedback with these optis on ebay, which makes me feel a little bit better buying from them. Worst part is that i work for a GM dealership and i dont wanna put another GM opti in my car.
They are too much money, and really not any more reliable then the next one

Looks like "thepartsladi" on ebay who was selling delphi optis took peoples money and went out of business

your doing something wrong, simple as that. or your gm opti's are not actually gm opti's. cheap ebay junk has been proven to be just that time and time again. gm opti's have been proven to run perfect for over a hundred thousand miles hundreds of thousands of times

what could i possibly be doing wrong? what are common opti install problems?
why would it run fine for a year or so then all the sudden crap out with a DTC 16 and 36 everytime...im confused.
i install a new opti, car fires up on first crank, and still traps 105mph with 150k on it. So why is my car eating Opti's? i barely drive the damn car

Now you're getting beyond what the OP intended. Start a new thread if you want information about your problem. Hint...like a wiring issue.

The 94 I just sold 2 days ago. Had the original base opti on it and I only put a cap and rotor on it. It had 140K on it when it rolled out of here Friday.

Wow! Maybe mine should go in the Opti hall of fame. It has 196,000+ on it and I'm going to replace the cap, rotor and wires next week because it misses when it rains.

Do it right. Get a genuine GM!
