I willl have teh zz409 cam, LT headers, hooker catback, 52mm throttle body...more mods but none I think will matter for where to shift.

None of those mods really help how high you can rev. None affect the bottom end. The only want to change that is to change out the bottom end. Your bearings are what you want to watch. Trust me I know. Reving to 6200 RPMs is not good on a stock bottom end. Well at least in my case. Threw a main bearing on my second run at the track. So, if you want to rev higher get a 383 set-up that's fordged and you'll be set.

Ive revved mine to 6200 plenty of times by mistake doing burnouts etc in the box. Hasnt hurt anything yet.

Most seem to view the 6500 number as the once you dont want to cross.

I agree.

6500 or so is good for a stock bottom end.

I believe that the zz409 cam is rated to make hp up to 6,900 rpm, but there is no way you should rev your engine that high. I have seen many guys making the most hp at 6,200 rpm. I would say rev it around there, but not past it since you dont want to risk blowing a bearing.

Yeah, I think the engine may have been weak to begin with, that's why I think she blew at 6200. I have ran my camaro past 6200 RPMs before, but I don't really like to. After that point I get a little scared.

Mine sees 6300 RPMS all day long... If it made power past that, I would rev it higher. Don't see any reason why it will not hold together.

Now, it is a rebuilt bottom end without stock bearings, and a few tricks here and there, but the crank is stock and the rods are stock.

Took it to 6800 on the dyno, and it was fine. After some tuning and fixing my valve float issues, i think it might make power all the way to 65 or 6600. We shall see

Same thing here. Stock I took it to 6300 all the time. After I get finished with my H&C package I plan on shifting at well over 6500.

I wouldn't go anymore than 6500.

at WOT I shift at 6700...

haven't had a problem yet; not saying it's a good thing to do though, I just don't care if my stock bottom end goes...

With the ZZ-409 cam, Hooker LTs and almost every bolt-on my peak hp was at 5500rpm. I ran my quickest times shifting at 5800rpm. Dyno results are in my sig. Although TPIS rates the cam for 6900rpm, you'll find that it won't make power up to that rpm.

I know 7000 rpm's twice in two weeks will definitely destroy it Other than that I was shifting at 6600.... the bearings were grooved very bad. I'd say if your worried about blowing it stay around 6100-6200 max.
