How hard would it be to convert LT1 to carb?

I have a 1985 blazer as seen in the sig. My best friend just wrecked his 95 z28. If it's totalled, I'd like to get the motor somehow and put it in my blazer. I was thinking of converting it to carb and a MSD ignition so I wouldn't have to deal with as much computerized **** as what is originally on the motor. Can this be done? Before anyone tries to bring drama into this post by saying Im taking **** from my best friend because he said he'd probably give me the motor. So could this be done? After all, it would be pretty damn cool to have a sleeper Blazer.

I think the last Jeg's catalog had a new intake manifold (from GM high performance parts) for the LT1 to make it use a carb. I think you would also need new heads, but I am not sure.

I think it wouldn't be too hard to keep the fuel injection, just use the wiring harness.

Either way, GMPP does sell a manifold that will bolt to LT1 heads and let you use a carb.

You can use a SBC manifold, you just have to block the water ports and redrill it.

I dont know if you meant hed give it to you free, but if hes charging you for it, depending on how much, lt1s bottom end isnt any better than any other SBC that I know of, the reverse flow cooling is pretty cool but not necessary, so you would probably find an already carbed 350 or larger SBC for less money, and it would have heads intake and carb bolted on, then you just rebuild it. This is only if he charges you what hed get on ebay for it.

I'm not sure if he'd charge me or not. Either way, I just wanted to know if this was possible at all. I'm also assuming it'd bolt up to my tranny/transfer case?

I'd buy a painless wiring kit for 5-600 and use that. Makes it pretty much plug and play.
