How Hard Is It To Install a Torque Converter?

I'm interested in changing out my torque converter, but I like to do things myself. How hard would this project be? Also, is the torque cinvertr for and LS1 the same as an LS1?

It's not difficult to figure everything out, but it can be a little tricky - especially when you get to the cooler lines. Those suck. I found this guide pretty helpful. I highly recommend a real tranny jack. I did mine without one and it was a real PITA. I had to take down the tranny with bare hands. Just kidding, I used a thick piece of plywood and both of my regular jacks.

As for the LS1/LT1 question.. no idea.

performance gained is well worth the effort, its not hard at all. I hate being under thecar since its so tight and cramped, but other than that just loosen the bolts pull trans, take out the convertor bolts put it back togther and done. Make sure when you put the trans cooler lines back on you don't crossthread them, Its easy to do if your in a hurry and can't really get to them well. I suggest upgrading to a trans cooler as well, this will keep the trans alive for many more miles, heat is the enemy. Also make sure you add some fluid to the convertor before putting it on, also spin in it there to make sure it engages all the way on the shaft. Unbolting everything like torque arm and driveshaft is not hard, but knida annoying when your under there, but like I said the benefits are worth it
