How hard do you drive your car on a normal basis?

So I'm just wonderin when is too much for these engines.

I decided to take this girl out and go and slam every gear behind my university to show her what its got, and in doing so I lost traction in 1st allowin it to get in the red, then hit 2nd hard and bogged it down, then missed third and got it in the red again and then hit 4th and decided to stop seeing how I was going 80 in a 25

Now this is just makin me wonder, how much can these engines take on a normal basis...it just seem so abusive.

And also what if there are cameras video taping a road...can you get in trouble for that or does a cop have to actually catch you?

Was she impressed? If you are on tape doing considerably wreckless stuff, and they get your plate number, then thats all the cops need.

You'd be surprised what they can take. Thats what the revlimiter is for. If you red lined 1st and hit 2nd that hard it shouldn't have bogged, either you need gears, or more power. lol If anything it was the hardest on the clutch. And if you are on camera, yes it can be used.

It didn't bog, I put it in gear and didn't really hit the gas at the same time, just didn't go as fast as it could.

and yea she was very impressed, she had a former 13 flat camaro so it was a nice date.

Only thing i'm worried about with the cameras is that its off a road called "Research Pkwy" which has a lot of high tech government buildings and what not.

Its a pretty strait back road that no one was on...just a little worried.

Cops can't do a thing to you unless there are signs posted stating that you are being recorded. If no signs are posted you have no worries. However, I wouldn't risk it again becuase next time you might see a cop watching the area.

RE: above, I really doubt that. Plus, would you really try to read all the signs in the area while driving all out? Watch the road!

I wind first and second out with a good hard shift all the time, but no 80 in a 25 stuff. I've had enough tickets already, and I have too much respect for other's safety to drive like that on the streets (anymore ). Although sideways on empty ramps or country corners is almost impossible to resist when a buddy is following me.... And, I accelerate at the verge of tirespin, with short shifting, all the time. Car loves it.

There is a big difference between ragging on it with abandon, vs. smoothly applying power and making transitions, as far as the abuse factor goes. Lower shock loads. More satisfying to me, but definately less thrilling, than the ol 'drive it like you stole it' routine. Which cost me a lot of parts and tickets when I was younger.

But about 50-60 track passes with burnouts counts as pretty hard driving.

Yea I like using this road to wind it up

no one uses it really at 10pm, no little kids or anything, no neighborhoods just closed businesses, i just dont want my license taken, but i'm sure its fine.

Dont be a female. People spin the stock bottom ends alot higher then your rev-limiter is.

whats the point of taking it to redline when there is no power up there on a stock bolt on motor. I shift at 5600 at most when power tapers off at 5300 for the next gear. only time I hit rev limit is doin a burnout.
