how to get out a messed up head bolt

I'm taking off the heads off of a lt1, and one of the bolts was in there TIGHT. one of the heads on one of the bolts rounded off, and of course its the very back one on the driver's side. aRe there any trick to gettin this SOB out without dropping the motor?

Thanks

Chad

Well,my first suggestion is to try a bolt extractor. If you have room to hammer it on.You can buy them at Sears. The other option is to grind the head off the bolt, pull the head. Then use vise grips to remove it.Good luck with it.

Craftsman has a tool for it. It looks like a nut and cuts into the rounded-off bolt head. I think you could get a set of those and use a socket to get it out. It may be the same bolt extractor tool that Joe is talking about.

get the set of 13 its 49$ and they work great, ive used them on head bolts, lug nuts, flywheel bolts and other stuff that was really in there. They are called Craftsman Bolt -Outs, craftsman calls the bolt extractors the ones you have to drill first.... if you get both 5 piece sets for 40$ you miss out on 7/16 12 mm and 17mm and you cant buy them seperately....
