Re: how to fix a backfire?

Usually that means the car is pretty excessively rich. You can typically address it with timing and better fuel tables.

Re: how to fix a backfire?

My car idles at 1100 rpm, and backfires almost everytime I shift, would I fix that by tuning, or could some sensor be off? It has a pretty new IAC.

Re: how to fix a backfire?

you probably have some plug wires crossed.

Re: how to fix a backfire?

is there any type of hesitation or does it only do it during a shift at WOT? more than likely you have a "leak" in your ingnition stemming from the header installation. what type of plug wires are you running? make sure that they arent arching out on the headers. wait until night time and look under the hood with the car running. you will probably see a plug wire arching out.

I think what he is saying is that you may have melted a plugwire on the side of the header, and when the wire contacts the header it archs which could be your miss/backfire.
