How to fix arcing spark plug wires?

Well I noticed one wire arcing. The car runs pretty rough on idle but is very smooth throughout the rpm band. I wrapped the wire with some protective wire loom. Will this help or do I need to buy brand new spark plug wires and then wrap them with a protective sleeve??

A spark plug with a crack in the porcelain can cause this...ask me how I know....cheaper than new wires too.

What kind of protective wire loom did you use? I once tried some protective plastic wire loom, and it melted all over the place; made a real mess. Plus, the metling plastic tore the wires up.

I eventually went with some Accel 9000 wires with Taylor Firesleeves for added heat protection.

Where is the wiring arcing from? The spark plug boot end, optispark end, or somewhere in the middle? Heat is typically the worst enemy of spark plug wires, so make sure you route them away from any heat sources.

Thomas.
