Well, I have 95k on my stock opti..

however, my piston rings are shot, I'm getting excessive crankcase pressure, oil leaking out of random places, a spitting sound on both sides of the engine (I'm sure its not a header leak), and I'm down on power.

I need a re-ring job done on the motor.. does anyone know how much a rering job costs? A ball park figure, with stock GM ring parts.. I don't have the money to get anything fancy, as I am already waaay in debt..

You might be surprised, but a good set of aftermarket rings are probably cheaper than stock rings from GM.

I would say if you're having it done you're going to spend in the neighborhood of $1500 to $2000.

PS: If the rings are worn usually the cylinder walls have to be honed so the block has to be stripped then sent to a machine shop. If the cylinders are too chewed up then you'll have to have it bored, which means new pistons.
