How do you take the throttle body off?
Alright while the intake elbow and MAF are off, I guess I'll clean the throttle body and IAC too. How exactly do you take it off? I'm guessing it's those 4 large bolts on the front of it? Can I re-use the gaskets? I just don't want to mess anything up. Also, what can I use to clean it?
Thanks

The first mod I ever did was switching from the stock 48mm TB to a 52mm TB. Once you get everything off, its quite self-explainitory. Yes, you can reuse the TB gasket as long as you're careful with it when you remove the TB. Once you remove the bolts holding it in and the IAC it should pop out with a flat head...

Yep, 4 bolts in the front need to be taken out. Unhook the IAC and TPS sensor connections, take off the vent tube and coolant hoses (if still in use). Unhook the throttle linkage and you're golden. You might need a new gasket as sometimes they stick. Wouldn't be a bad idea to have one on hand in case.

It's really pretty simple. Just takes some patience. I switched to a 52mm BBK TB, and when I took my stock one off, I just found all the bolts that were holding it in place and simply took em out. Nothing big at all. Don't sweat it. Just be careful once you get the main bolts off. You then have to unbolt the bottom of the TB. Make sure you don't lose any bolts and when you are putting it back on, don't tighten each bolt one by one. Tighten each one a little bit tighter each turn, until they are all on securely. I don't think you can re-use the gaskets, but I can't tell you for sure. I had to order another gasket set for my swap.

yeah it's those bolts, you should probably get another gasket, i've seen some people reuse it but it doesn't cost that much so just get a new one. As far as cleaning, i use carb cleaner.

just make sure you unplug all the wiring, I've reused TB gaskets 3 and four times, and I've replaced them after one use, it just depends on if you wanna go get one lol, I try to make sure I always have an extra laying around.
silicone will help insure a seal just spread it out thinly when you put it back on.
As afr as tightening the bolts, I've always done it like a wheel, top left, bottom right, top right, bottom left, and do it with three passes.
As a tip when you go to put it back on, if you put light film of silicone on it will stick to the surface and won't need you to hold it

Thanks for your help guys.....I got a little impatient and went and did it. Everything is off and apart now. I think I'm gonna go run to NAPA with my moms car and pick up some stuff to clean it with. Thanks again!
