How do you store a camshaft
I think I heard somehwere to store it verticaly, or was it horizontally? I've got to store it for a month or 2 until I get the chance to install it. How do you do it? Thanks.

BK, you might consider removing the little rust spots with Scotchbrite wet with some mineral spirits. Then wash the whole thing in mineral spirits, not gasoline! Slobber it up good with motor oil. You could wrap it in plastic to keep the dirt off, but moisture resistant brown paper would be better. If you trap moisture inside a sealed plastic bag, there's a better chance of rusting.
If you are really ****, find a little desicant bag which absorbes moisture and toss that inside the wrap. Store it somewhere it's heated, again if you are ****. Under your bed is nice.
Cams and cranks don't bend under their own weight when stored horizontally.

A Crankshaft you want to normally store upright so you dont warp the crank, the camshaft is more forgiving. However, if you can I would stand it upright as well. Just dont want it to knock over and fall on the floor and break. I have mine stored in a box sitting upright.

If it's one that makes real good HP--- Ya wrap it up in towels and store VERY carefully under the PJ's in your drawer so as not to get a scratch on it.
Just in case ya wanted to make HP in the future.
