How do you get the console out of a '95???

All the instructions I've seen are for the 96+ cars. Or do I even need to pull the console to install a shifter?

removing the console is actually pretty easy. i just did mine last week to install the pro 5.0. first unscrew the shifter ball, then slide off the boot, and the change holder part. then all you have to do is unscrew a few bolts.... i cant remember how many there were total, 2 in the center in the storage compartment thing, then there is one set way back underneath the radio, then i think there is one more somewhere. you will be able to see. then you have to pull the e-brake all the way up, then the console pretty much just lifts up and out. but you have a harness with a light bulb attached also, you will see what im talking about, its the light that lights up when you open the center storage compartment is open. you will have to unclip that before the console can come out. thats pretty much it, hope it helped a little, im sure someone else will remember where all the bolts are located! any more questions let me know!

If you want to pull the whole console out, I have heard some people say they remove the drivers seat to make it easier.

remove the driver seat? that seems a bit excessive. I've pulled my console numerous times, but mostly the 97+ one. There are some screws to remove in the cargo bay, and also beneath the ash tray. Other than that, it should be able to be lifted right out. The shifter boot/leather piece comes out seperately, and first. I never removed my ebrake, just pulled it up extremely high. That backfired the time I went to change my clutch, as the cable snapped (92,000 miles).

I just pulled mine today.

Unscrew the shifter **** (can be a PITA, mine was), then pull up the shifter boot casing and there is a light that need to be turned and pulled out (the one that lights the ash tray). One bolt under radio in cd compartment, one under shifter boot, and two in storage compartment. Pull the light out of the center storage compartment and pull the black part off and drop it back in the hole. Pull the ebrake straight up by sticking a screwdriver between the cog and "latch", just look in there and you can see how a hook holds the teeth on the cog. You could also just pull the brake up as hard as you can but it is risky as mentioned above. Then just wiggle the console out.
