Make sure they are all the way loose and just yank it off. It might take a little bit of pulling but it will come.

I dont know if my method is right or not but I use the hex caliper socket available at any automotive parts storer, then if it is seized in there and you cant get it with a breaker bar or a pipe I just "jack" the breaker bar up on the drivers side and use a hammer and the breaker bar on the passangers side.

Once the caliper is off then the rotor should slide off... try tapping the edge with a rubber mallet or the the edge VERY lightly with a metal hammer to get it to resonate and break itself loose.

Once you have the brake caliper off there isn't anything holding the rotor on, they are usually just stuck on there a bit. Use a rubber mallet to tap against the inside face of it turning it a few times and it should come off. If you don't have a rubber mallet you could use a regular hammer against a piece of 2x4 to loosen it.

If there are any "star" washers on the lug bolts, they will have to come off before the caliper can come off.

Use the C-clamp to compress the caliper piston. This will enough room for the new (thicker) pads.

C-clamp usage has already been mentioned but like said, it's to compress the piston..... if you're not sure where to put the C-clamp you'll know when you go to put your caliper back on and it won't go over the rotor

The star washers are called brake clips and pull right off if you have them... they are put on when the car is being built to hold the brakes on as the car moves down the production line and aren't needed when the car is finished. Pads are just held in by compressed metal clips... they pull straight out and push straight in. no tricks involved but confusing if you've never done it i guess. any questions it seems plenty of guys can help you out! good luck

Open up the brake reservoir before pushing the caliper back in!

I open bleeder screws when compressing it, [so that old fluid doesn't go back into the system...]
