how do you calculate MPG?
Mike,
Fill your car up with fuel as full as you can get it. Clear your odometer or track your miles until you fill up again. Doesn't really matter when you fill it up, just as long as you keep track of how many miles you drove.
Then fill it up again as full as you did the first time. Now divide the miles driven, by the # of gallons it took to fill it back up.
It helps to write down the gallons and miles driven while still at the station so you don't forget how many gallons it took.

Fill up your car to the same point each time and as you leave the gas pump, reset your trip meter.
Have a calculator in your glove box.
When you get in your car to take off from the gas pump after filling up, do this...
Look at your trip meter. It might read 250 miles.
Punch this 250 into the caculator.
Look up at the gas pump. It might say 12.7 gallons.
Punch the divided by symbol on the calculator.
Punch in 12.7. Punch the equal sign.
Answer in this example would be 19.685. Which is 19.685 miles per gallon.
Now, as you drive away, hit the trip meter reset button to place it back on Zero.
Next time you fill up, do the same sequence of steps.
Man...it couldn't be easier!!!
Just fill it up....drive it. Reset the odometer.
Next time your filling up...note how many gallons it took to fill it back up.
Note how many miles you drove since resetting the odometer.
Take the miles...divide it by number of gallons, voila...MPG.
All_Z_Way...I know that's what you said, but maybe he needed a "fresh" perspective.

im getting 140 per tank woohoo,
i think my Mez waterpump cools the car too much and the comp adds fuel to warm it up when the wp wont let it. stupid "learning" computer
good luck with the math bro
EDIT i went 140 miles on 11 gallons
when i used to have my v6 the computer richens the airtofuel to run rich when the car is "below operating temp"
is it the same with a 95?

Why would your pcm want to make your car run hotter?????
Your pcm adds fuel from your current temp, air flow and some other numbers(I know it takes alot readings from different sensors) but there is not a set temp that the pcm is trying to reach.
Or do I have no idea what I'm talking about!
