Well, start off by filling your tank up. And throw some sort of fuel stabilizer in the tank. Some people say to change your oil, but that's a waste. Just change it right after storage. Also, get a nice car cover since it will be outside. Remove your battery. And that should be about it.

If the car is going to sit in one spot you should put the car on jack stand and remove the wheels and tires. Stack the wheels on their sides off the floor inside. You can hurt the sidewalls if you leave it sitting on deflated tires and the rubber can start to rot if just left sitting for a long period of time outside.

I would park it somewheres in doors for the winter, but if you absolutely have to, first thing is: remove the battery, put on a car cover, put car on jackstands (I leave the wheels and tires on, their off the ground at least). And have fuel tank at 3/4 or full (keeps down on the condensation in the tank). This is what I do every year in Michigan. My car is in storage right now, since OCT '02. Also, make sure your radiator has the right mixture of antifreeze to water. If your winters are cold like they are here in MI. Trust me, it will freeze.

Mike

P.S. make sure all fluids are full. And check the car every once in awhile during the winter months making sure no little critter has made a home in your car.

I live in Michigan too, but I think that this time of year is the best to drive it Its dry and an average 75 dg outside. What better could you ask for?

I wouldn't put my car on Jack Stands. This can affect your suspension components. The suspension of the car is meant to have pressure on it at all times, and if you remove that pressure for a long period of time it could mess it up. If you're worried about flat spots on your tires, get some el cheapo rims and tires. You could even get them from a junk yard if you want. Just get them in the correct size bolt pattern.

I would just run take for a quick spin a couple of times a month on nicer days and keep the tank full.....it needs to be driven if possible.
