How do I upgrade to a 240km/h (160mph) speedo with my 1993 LT1?

I own a '93 Formula. Because the car is Canadian, the speedo is in km/h with the mph in smaller numbers. It origionally came with the 180km speedo (100mph?) and I wanted to upgrade to the 240km/h (160 mph). How would I do this? I know it's not as simple as just installing the new instrument cluster because the needle would be pointing at the wrong numbers on the speedo. Would I have to recalibrate the computer or something? If anyone here can help me out, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

My 94z had a 110 gay speedo and I had to buy a whole 150 mph gauge cluster from another car. The new cluster will have all the needles so you won't have to worry about any of that.

So your saying that all I have to do is go to the dealer, order an instrument cluster (one with a 240km/h speedo), install it and the readings will all be correct? No modification's or calibrating? Will an instrument cluster work from any year 93-97?

What if I got an instrument cluster from the US (reads in MPH as opposed to KPH in canada) would it still be accurate?

I WOULD NOT go to a dealer. I would look on here for a used one. They go for cheap on here. On my 94 I didn't have to recalibrate anything. It shouldn't matter either if you get a mph u.s one ether, it will still have the km/h on it, just a little smaller in the background.

There's this place called Trans Am Creations. It sells new and used fbody parts (interior's, stereo's wheels etc.). They also have instrument clusters. The one I'm looking for cost $150. It's from a '93 trans am GT.

I email'd him last night asking what I would have to do to upgrade to the new speedo and this was his response. I got it earlier today,

********

"The clusters are interchangeable as long as you have a V8._ You can only use a '93 model cluster, as they use a different speedometer drive unit compared to the 94 and newer units._ We don't have a single Canadian model, as most US cars never have them._ We do have the the 150 MPH cluster for a '94 Trans Am, which is $150 used._ The gauge cluster will swap right in with no modifications, and will be just as accurate/inaccurate as with your old cluster."

Trans Am Creations
4767 East 10th Lane
Hialeah, FL 33013
(305) 769-0985, Phone
(305) 769-0932, Fax

His response is a bit confusing. In his second sentence, he goes on to say "........you can only use a '93 model cluster as they are different comared to the '94...."

Then he advertises the 150MPh cluster out of a 94 and says "....will swap right in with no modifications and will be just as accurate..."

Well. I thought I could only use one from a '93? But he wants to sell me a '94 WTF?? I'm still confused. I've had so many response from various forums and just about all of them are different. I don't want to go and spend the money and then wind up with something that doesn't work right....
