How Do I Tell if I Have a Dead Cylinder?

I just want to know if there is a way to tell if one cylinder is dead, without pulling the plugs. I have this mysterious problem, and I think that might be the cause. The car drives fine, no missfire, decent power at part throttle (can't floor it, breaking clutch in).

Could I pull the injector plugs one by one, or can that hurt my motor somehow?

What's the problem your having.

You can pull the injector plugs to see which cylinder is acting up without hurting anything.

oh yeah pulling the injector wires will aid in finding a dead cyl.for sure just listen to the engine closely,or if you have headers you can get a spray bottle and squirt each individual primary tube to see if it is hot,you can also get one of those temperature guns that will read out digital temp when pointed at a given object!hope this helps(make certain all injector clips are seated on the injectors)

If the car runs fine at idle with no misfire, Odds are you dont have a dead cyl. But to be sure go with the above help. Either get a digital temp reader and measure each header primary, or use the spray water on, or spit on the primaries. In either case the the water/spit should evaporate at the same rate for each, and all temperatures should be within the same range. If there was a dead cyl water would just sit on the primary, or the temp would be Far lower than the rest.

I figured spraying water on the header primaries as the car warmed up was much easier than pulling plugs :-P
