Arrow How do I launch with a 2400 stall?

I've had and driven mostly 6 speeds before, and the automatics I've driven were only for tuning, not at the track.

I bought a 93 Z this summer and swapped in a 94 LT1 in it, but kept the 700R4. Took it to the track last weekend and I got consistent 2.1s 60' with street tires at 27 PSI and by simply flooring it.
Right now, I'm swapping in a 2400 stall and a 28K cooler and plan to take it to the track this weekend again. How should I launch to get a better 60'er? (the car has 3.23s)

I will also have some Nittos in a week or two.
Thanks.

Think of the stall as a slipping clutch more or less. You want to start off with a little gas, and gradually give it more and more, then once it starts to hook "flash" the stall by flooring it. Went 1.8s consistently with street tires like that in Imp SS.

Once you get sticky tires. Get to the line, and two foot it. As soon as the light goes green, mash the gas and hold on. Some people like to load the stall a little before launch (give it gas and brake at same time). When ever i did this i had the obd1 no shift problems.

Madwolf, without the nitto's do not expect to much. When you do get them, put some miles on them first before going to the track. At least a couple of hundred. When you get there do not mess around, just drop em down to 16lb. and do a long burn-out. Experiment with your lauches. If you can dead hook off idle, great.
If not I'd go with atljars advice.

Thanks for the advice. That brings up another question though. How do I do a long burnout without a line lock? And without smoking the brakes?

You can't. Changing the back pads are just a way of life. By the way what track do you go to? Byron??

Yep, Byron. It's 35 miles away from me.
It was pretty crowded last Saturday because of a bunch of UTI ricers. (some BS event)
Hopefully this Saturday will be better.

Hopefully you'll have good weather. And I'm glad to hear your getting the bugs worked out.
Next spring I'll probably need your services when I do my head, cam swap. Maybe I'll see you at the track sometime. Good luck and fast times!
