Thumbs up Homemade 1le elbow

All you have to do is get an elbow from a Impala,Cadillac,or Roadmaster (I already had one from my Impala) and then go to AutoZone and get a Grant horn button. Install the button inside of the hole of the elbow and your done. Cost is $4 if you can find a elbow or you can go to a sporting store and get a practice hockey puck for 99cents. I could tell a little difference in lowend but seem to be no change up. Enjoy.

Or you can take your stock one, remove the donkey dick and plug it up. Thunder Racing sell the piece to plug it. Same thing.

I tried plugging mine up, siliconed it in. It was a really tight fit but it still kept getting sucked into the throttle body. Guess 383s breath a little deeper.

Scroll down on this page and you can see the 1le elbow and the plug mentioned earlier. Note how there is no resonator hanging down from it.

well one guy is talking about.....

the donkey dick

The other guy is talking about.....

drilling a hole into your TB

While a third guy mentioned something like.....

I tried plugging mine up

But the part that got me the most was......

kept getting suc%$#
<< censored

and I still dont know or never seen.....

and then go to AutoZone and get a Grant horn button.

So in other words it has to do with replacing the intake rubber elbow conected to the Intake manifol... but someone talked about just replacing that long dong like thing hangin out from underneath the rubber bellows with that Grant Horn Button..

Now why ???? What gains are we talking about?

I didnt say take the stick out. I said use the elbow from a Impala and put a grant horn button in the hole which is on top not the bottom like the camaro.

And why would anybody want to spend $35 for a plug that you dont even see. I was just trying to help out from people spending alot when I only spend $3.47 at Autozone for a chrome horn button and a free elbow I already had to make a 1le elbow.

As for gains.. it should give you the same gains as a 1le elbow does which I see go for little as $60 and high as $75.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the impala elbow is acctually "smaller" then our stock elbows & the 1le, our stock f-body elbows are the same size as the 1le except they have a donkey dick on them, the impala one is acctually smaller all around.

I see what you are saying in being smaller because of the MAF sensor but I could not tell any difference in size far as flow is concern because both ends were the same size. But hey I learn something new everyday. Thanks for the info. But this has to do till I rebuilt the motor and go all out. Im gathering parts to do a 383 for my Impala first then by this time next year the Camaro gets done.
