How do I get this [edited] Crank Pulley off??

Ive removed the 3 hub bolts and the center bolt(not sure if I was supposed to) and Ive hit the back with a hammer and its not budging!! How much are pulley pullers? How come nobody has mentioned this PITA when doing the Opti change? Ive got an old style pulley puller that requires you to screw in 3 bolts on the outside and then you turn the middle bolt to pop it off, but unless there are threads on the 3 holes in the pulley, wouldnt I be screwing the Puller bolts into the Hub and defeating the purpose?

Tap it all the way around............it should come off fairly easy, mine did. The 3 bolts is all you need off. The Hub itself is a real PITA to get off! Keep trying it'll come off.

Just to clearify, you don't need the hub off, just the damper. (the thing the 3 bolts are in)

Spray some PB Blaster around the mating surfaces and let it sit overnight. Then give it a few taps.

Mine didn't come off easy.. I went to Autozone and rented a three jaw puller (like in the link above) and it came right off... If you buy one they aren't that expensive.

Well if your changing the opti. I assume that means the one on your motor is trash. What I did was tapped the pulley with a hammer and also used a big screw driver as a pry bar up against my old opti. If its trash what does it matter right?

If you rent one from autozone you can just keep it. Its cheaper then buying and they will tell you up front thats what the deposit is for...........

Best to use a 3 armed puller like the one in the picture. I used it and it worked like a charm.

Also if your in the middle of an opti install here is a good walkthrough to help you along. http://www.streetillusionsracing.com...ll/install.htm This made my opti swap alot easier.

yes this was a 2 day delema for me, but it came off rather easily... (assuming you have all the bolts out) hit it from the front on all sides... just tap the edges till you think it might have shifted, as soon as its shifted at all your good to pull it off...(mostly a bit of rust connection)
