Question How do I choose a piston for my le2 build?! ---

I have purchased these pistons *SRP Flat top Forged Pistons -5cc , .030 over (11.8 compression? Pump gas? ) 419 grams* being a noobie and just going with 11.8 compression because that is what JEGS said in their ad, lol.

I have now learned that if the heads were milled/decked the compression goes up. How do I know if my pistons will work on pump gas? If I bought the wrong ones, what ones are other le2 guys running? It will be a 383 with a 125 shot of nitrous, Thanks ---

You will need to know what the cc size on the heads are. Has the block been decked?? Do a search for a DCR or Dynamic compression ratio calculator, that will give you the numbers you need.

Stock block , I only plan on having it .030 overbored and getting 4 bolt main caps installed. I guess I could ask Lloyd for some cc specs on the heads, his site says "205 CC Intake Port" (is that the number I need to get the DCR?). Thanks for your help ---

Nope the cam numbers get your DCR. Are you running a LE cam, if so the cams are designed to work with those pistons, the chambers they are sent out with AND a zero decked block with a FelPro head gasket.

HAVE THE BLOCK ZERO DECKED!!!!!!!

Trust me i designed the cam!

If you have any questions with this PM me and i'll walk you thru it.

No, you'll need the combustion chamber size. They'll most likely be in the 54-58cc range. You'll also need you Advertised duration numbers from you cam card and some other information.

I am running an le2.3 cam ( thats what the box said ) ... so maybe its an le2 cam version 3? It was built for a 383 setup. A buddy of mine said his le2 heads cc'd at 55. My main goal is to be able to run this on 91-93 pump gas without problems ---

ps I have the impala head gaskets I was going to use too---

But if your block is zero decked the impy head gaskets might not be the right ones for your application. Better check it out.

Yeah I coved that with him, it would raise the compression pretty dam high.
