How did you guys get the pulley off?

I need to do the optispark tommorrow and I cant get the dam pulley bolts loose. Which way do they go? Normal or reversed? I tried both with an impact and the compressor set at 140 psi. What am I doing wrong?

the bolts are regular. i cant believe your having that much trouble even with an impact! i had no problem getting mine off, they were tough, but came off just fine. you might want to soak the bolts over night (prolly too late now) or at least for a few hours with something like WD-40 or something along those lines. might help losen things up so you can get them off!

For the TB-Bypass do a search in the LT1 tech forum and as far as the pullies go I got mine off with just a socket wrench, dont know why your having such a hard time.....

I think my impact is shot! I tried to hit it up again and got nuttin. So I put a long rod threw it and put a 1/2 rachet on it. I barely put any pressure on it and all three just about fell out! I did let it sit last night with wd40 on it so maybe that helped. Now just waiting on my buddy with a balance puller to come over

What do you need a balancer puller for?!?

To take the hub off? If I remember right you don't need to pull that off to take off the Opti...just the pulley part.

If you do decide to pull the hub off, you need to make sure you remove the thick washer from the center of the hub, then rethread the bolt back into the hole a couple turns, and use that to push against, or you will get nowhere. Good Luck!

You tried to pull the hub off the end of your crank with a PRYBAR?!?! Son, put the tools down and call a mechanic!!!

What are you trying to remove? The pulley from the hub, or the hub from the crank?

You only need the pulley off to change the opti. Use a puller like this to get the pulley off. Leave the hub alone if you can.

no I couldnt get the dam pulley off by hand so I tried a little tugging with a bar so Im waiting on the puller. It had overnight to sit with wd40. Im trying to remove the pulley from the hub and then the optispark. It seems that the only reason I started this is cuz my impact is dead and I realized that now. Im leaving the hub alone

Ahhh OK yes, forgot the balancer is kind of pressed onto the hub

A puller is only like $14 at Vato Zone...I bought mine there. It's kind of like the one shoebox posted, except this one uses bolts instead of claws.
