how to check for bad lifters out of car?

I got a box of lifters from a friend of mine, which are comp cams high energy roller lifters. He didn't run them for long, he said they made alot of noise and he pulled them out and put stockers back in, but the thinks he may have overtightened one and collapsed it. On visual inspection they look fine, and all roll fine in my hands. Any other way to check them before putting them in my LT1? I also have some Comp R's I can compare them to if I need to, waiting to go in my 383. I'd just rather not use 110k mile stockers on a new cam if I can avoid it. Thanks!

I would call Comp Cams and see if they would inspect them for you if you sent them to them, alot of companies offer inspection services. You might even do so in your freinds name with his receipt if he still has it - it may be a warrantee related issue??
