With my OVC setup, I can change all the wires from the top except for #8 where I have to reach around the starter to push the boot on. If changing plugs, the starter has to come off. As for the opti part, I took the tensioner off for better access. I think I have a couple pics on my cardomain page of my wire routing.

plug wires

I did mine recenlty and the drivers side took 1 hour the passenger side 3 hours.

You have to do the optispark end from underneath get the car on ramps at the front.

Do 1 wire at a time start at the top look at this link from shoebox:http://shbox.com/1/opti.jpg

Take off no 4 plug wire and feed it back up through to where it rounds the corner of the block, there is a clip by the opti that holds all 4 wires which you need to unclip while you are under the car.

There is a clip also where the wires round the corner of the block undo this from the top, you should be able to feed the opti end part of the wire back up through from the top now.

There is a three wire clip holding all but the number 2 wire they just push into here.

Then you have to work from the top by feel to remove the number 4 wire from the spark plug.

Put in the new number 4 wire match it by it's length to the new ones you have

When you do number 6 there is a clip that holds it together with number 8, make sure you transfer all the heat shielding plastic and you should have some metal heat shields on some of the plugs connectors they just push on.

You can do this with all the 4 wires although it gets a bit tricky by the time you get to no 2 plug wire where they round the corner of the block b ut by now you will be an expert!

You can do all the wires this way without removing alterntor starter or exhaust y pipe but it takes time and a lot of scrapped knuckles.

Have a look from underneath ( shine a torch up) when your doing no 6 and 8 to make sure you have not got the wires near the exhausts.

Good luck it may make life easier if you remove the alternator although I didn't bother. All you do is put a 13mm socket on the tensioner under the car and pull the belt off.

There is a diagram of how to route the belt on the front by the rad

when your done don't forget the wire you have left ( you should have nine wires if you bought a kit ) is for the coil to the top of the optispark if you take the intake 1LE elbow off it will give you better access.

Hope this helps

As long as it's not sitting on the header it will be fine.
