How bad are slp shorties?

I have a cc306 cam and stock lt4 heads with slp shorties. How bad are these for this setup. Would I see a big improvement with long tubes?

Doubt you would see much gain at all with long tubes over the SLP shorties.

any headers on an LT1 is a big improvment...if you have to go shorties slp 1 3/4's are the way to go

Supposidly the power will be about the same but the LTs produce more low end torque.

I wouldnt go that far...definately the best flowing shorties though, many have made they switch from slp to Lts and noticed a big differance.

As with anything, your results may vary.

The new Pop Hot Rodding on the stands has a good exhaust article by David Vizard. That guy has tested more exhausts than anyone i've ever seen.

Hell i've seen a larger diameter header with the same runner lengths and a cam to match make MORE TQ down low and up high, esentially flatten out the TQ curve (like a supposed wider LSA will do) than a smaller diameter header and a bigger cam. Hmmm more HP after peak and more TQ before peak, sounds like more average power and a quicker car to me.
