how bad is my stock TB and intake hurting my H/C LT1

I have a LE2(comparable) setup..LE2 heads and a bigger cam.... However I have the stock intake(but i opened it up so the filter is completely showing) and I have a stock throttle body. Is it worth it to go to a 52MM TB and cold air intake? how much hp would I see over getting those. (i have every other bolt on other than those two,30# injectors too. Car has long tubes as well.

btw..the computer is programmed to a 52mm tb(in the event that i eventually bought one)

The stock air box is hurting you way more than the stock TB. You definately need a CAI, I imagane you would feela noticable differance.

CAI is usually the first mod people do because you get alot of HP for not alot of money. Go moroso or K&N.

not so much the TB, but the intake is definately suffocating your performance. Get the moroso CAI for 200 bucks, it claims gains up to 20hp. If i were in your shoes, there are most likely better things you can get than a TB with almost 400 bucks, so if you have the spare money do it, if not there are better things you could buy. Definately do the CAI though, bolts up in a few minutes, and you will certainly feel a gain.

You would probably see around 15RWHP just with a CAI on a heads cam car.

Most STOCK engines pick up around 10RWHP with them.

Also, the throttle body is hurting you more than you think. You would probably pick up about 10 from that too.

So I am going to say that in total, you could gain about 20 at the wheels. Thats a pretty good difference. Definatly enough that you will feel it.

Go with a LPE cold air. They come with a HUGE K&N filter. And are a nice design. Take about 10 minutes to install. They actually have a bigger K&N than the K&N FIPK comes with. And they are cheap. I got mine for 160$ 2 years ago

yeah thats what im figuring. I cut all the plastic around my stock airbox. The whole filter is showing..so its not sucking through a hole the size of a soft ball anymore. Im prolly going to do both at the same time. Hopefully ill notice some kind of difference. My car doesnt really feel as fast as i expected it to..at all. Once it warms up it starts to studder a little bit..and seemes to have a miss at the same rpm in every gear(right around 2000) I have to figure that stuff out too.

for the cold air intake you can get one with a k and n filter on ebay for around 50 dollars the only difference between it and the k&n kit is the tube doesnt have k&n on it so save your money

The SLP has two smaller K&N's.

They have been known to have the filters fall off. But i have no experience with them. I have read they dont flow as well as some of the others such as Moroso, K&N, and LPE.

The LPE is one of the cheapest at 160$ and has the biggest K&N filter of all of them. This is what I bought, and I can say that the quality is top notch, the filter is gigantic, and I felt a nice difference with it. More than I expected. It also is more "responsive" after idling in traffic.

on an le2 setup, a bigger tb might give you around 10hp if you are lucky. stock intake is not at all limiting as far as the intake MANIFOLD goes. the intake tube system is pretty crappy.

well if it gives a stock car 10+hp..i dont see why id only see a 10hp gain....plus i want to do both cai and TB at the same time. hopein for maybe 15rw or so? and a much better throttle response..the car doesnt feel that crazy at all..comapared to when it was stock..somethin isnt right...i think it has to do with my bad maf....

I've run an SLP CAI on my car for almost 4 years. I've never had a filter fall off...maybe people need to tighten the filters a little more?

BTW, they're S&B filters, not K&N. Don't ask me if one is better than the other...I have no idea. But yeah, even on a car with nothing more than an airfoil and a 2OTL, the CAI made a noticeable difference...

K&N ones can be prone to falling off if the oil gets onto the fitting portion of the filter or if the filter was put on wrong (its kinda fumbly to get on at the right angle).

if its on right, and the part where the cone fits onto the tube is clean, it will not fall off. I check this every time now on the filter, no problems for years. (It fell off once because of this reason).

You will probably see what you wanted, 15RWHP or so.

The Lingenfelter one is on their site. Its called a supertube or something like that. And its defiantly the best buy for the price as far as CAI's go. This has been debated many times though. Do a search for it.
