how bad is header "slip-in primary" leak????

at first i didnt think the car would be that bad with the #1 primary slip-in on my Hooker LT's..... guess i was wrong. i can actually hear the leak now from inside my car! ive been busy and havent been able to take a look at it. but today i went out and saw that there is a blackish-brown colored stain right where the primary slips in! now ive read about the fixes... but what i want to know is how is it hurting me? is it really affecting performance? im guessing it is since its a leak before the o2.

anybody have any info? or if they noticed a difference after they fixed the leak?? thanks in advance!

Your O2's are reading that side as lean and dumping more fuel. If you are running really rich your performance could be hindered.

I noticed a big difference when I fixed the leak, before it was sucking up air and throwing off my idle when I stopped. Mine was also pretty loud, I could even feel the exaust escaping from the primary with my hand.

I ended-up finding a solution that worked for me, here is the thread - Primary Fix

Yes, it sure is. It is completely sealed now and there is absolutely no more leak. No problems for about over a month now.

Mine leaks as well, in fact I cant seem to get off the soot that escaped- any good ways of cleaning it? I would like to seal it as well, so let us know what works!

Mine is leaking also, you can smell the raw fuel on that side. I might try the t clamp but what size should I get?

I got mine from True-Value Hardware (my work) you should be able to order the stuff I have from any True-Value Hardware store here is a map of the closest ones to you Map

It is made by Master Plumber and it is called High Temperature Furnace Cement. Here is the SKU for the product - 345-394. The Bar Code is 078864450224. That is for the 1/2 pint tub. This should be enough info for you to order it if you want to.
