How to adjust 1.6 Comp Cam Magnum Tip Roller Rockers w/ Lock Nuts

How to adjust 1.6 Comp Cam Magnum Tip Roller Rockers w/ Lock Nuts. I need to know the correct way of doing this and if there is a way without running the engine and doing it at that time. Can't I just put them on, tighten them a certain way then do like a 1/4 turn. Or do I have to rotate the crank until the it's on compression or exhaust strokes?

Remember EOIC. Exhaust Opening, Intake Closing. Turn the motor over until the exhaust valve on Cyl #1 is opening. As it's on it's way down, adjust the INTAKE valve. Now turn it over until the #1 Intake valve is closing. Now adjust the EXHAUST valve. Stock lifters will like 0 lash plus 1/4 turn. Comp R lifters like 1/8 of a turn. HTH.

It doesn't matter. On my Tech Page there is info on setting the valve lash. You might have seen it when you did the suggested search.

So tighten it till it's not loose anymore or no movement then 1/8 of a turn.

Tighten it until you can't spin the pushrod with your fingers, then 1/4 or 1/8 turn.

With stock lifters, I'd day that 1/4 turn is about the minumum.

If you can't spin the pushrod, you are past zero lash.

96camaroz28lt4: my guide tells how to find zero lash and add preload. Apparently you are resisting reading or ignoring info links that have been given.

I simply told how I adjust the valves on a small block. Never had a problem of being too loose or hanging them open. There are tons of different ways to do it, this is what I find to be the easiest, especially on an LT which is a PITA anyway.
