HotCam installation prices

I am thinking about getting the hotcam kit, but I would be takign it to a shop to get it installed. Any idea on how much it would cost me to get that installed? Also, does the kit come with everything needed for the installation and setup?
Thanks,
Bill

yeah, im pretty sure it comes with everything, you might need gaskets, but the shop could get those. i think most people would say invest in a new timing chain, bearings, and lifters depending on the miles on your car. but im sure it will cost quite a bit. $200-400 maybe. The job doenst seem fairly complicated.

2-400?? I was thinking like 800 or higher because they would have to remove the engien and pull everythign apart, but i dont know a lot about the process. If thats all then i should do it. Get a stock timign chain, what bearings, and it comes 1.6 rr.......are those different than lifters?

Well it's more than you think but it just takes patience......I don't know how much a shop would cost you but it would prob take a good part of the day to do and that's if they done it before.....you don't have to pull the motor so you don't need to get new bearings.......but a new timing chain is a must......Lifters are good but not a must......if your budget can afford it...it wouldn't hurt!

I would replace the timing chain with a heavy duty one, your lifters should be okay, but if you have the money then replace it.

What make you think they have to remove the engine?? You don't have to remove the engine to change the cam.

to give you an idea: the local dealership (not the place to go)
charges $63 per labor hour.
last year my buddy took his car there to have his opti and waterpump replaced, charged him $963.
the DIY price would be
$200 opti
$135 electric WP and gained 5-7rwhp
your going to pay out the but to have it done.

Or if you have a buddy whos an expert on lt1s then buy him a 18 pack of beer and get drunk with him WHILE installing your cam !!! It may be better to drink them after a job well done!
