I just bought a hotcam , just the cam
itself can i jus buy the lt4 valve springs
and use my stock retainers etc?

 

well, more often than not the springs will come with new reatainers, but if not, it would be ok to use the stockers, they both will fit up.

 

You might have to get new lifters. I dont know. They needed to put new ones in on mine. Just a sugestion.

Don't even think of using the stock springs with the Hot Cam & roller rockers. You will get spring bind = broken springs & destroy the engine. Hold off till you can do it "right". The Hot Cam springs & retainers are cheap !

LT4 springs run about $30 online. LT4 retainers, keepers, and shims (seats) are extra. You can run your stock ones just fine and save a bit of cash. Also, don't forget to replace your valve stem seals while you're in there. Those should run about $30 from GM or $20 from anyold parts store.
