Hose from valve cover to throttle body

What does this hose do and would it be ok to just put a breather on valve cover and cover the hole to the throttle body. I tried searching this topic and just confused myself................Thanks

It's for venting the crank pressure. Yeah, just put a breather on it. Some say you will get unmetered air but doesn't matter imo. Better than the oil blowby you get into your throttlebody and intake.

You only get unmeetered air if you don't cap off the other end. Unmeetered air can shut off your motor if there is enough unmeetered air going into the motor.

There should have been detailed explanations in your search for "breather". It's been discussed at length many times. It's not confusing when you understand how the PCV system works and why it is there. It's a whole lot better than a breather for keeping harmful gases out of your crankcase.

Sure, you can "just put a breather on it", but it's not better for your engine in the long run.

And, capping "off the other end" of the hose does noit prevent unmetered (MAF) air from entering the engine. The vacuum source to the PCV valve will be pulling unmetered air into the manifold, via the path from the breather to the crankcase to the PCV valve to the intake manifold.

Stock PVC system, with all the parts intact, works fine on my 800HP nitrous motor. Never had a problem with oil in the throttle body.
