Horsepower VS Track times

Generally speaking is there a time you can associate with a certain given amount of power?

Example if a 2002 SS Camaro was making 310 to the wheels, and a 96 Camaro was making 310 to the wheels. Would you expect them to perform similairly? Because it is my understanding that powerband has a lot to do with how you run. A person with a Honda S2000 makes 200HP, but I understand that the car doesn't even get close to that power until an extremely high rev at the end of its power band.

Also what would be the cheapest way for an LT1 push 300 to the wheels.

Extremely vague generalizations could be made, but realistically there's just too many variables to take in to account. In a perfect world, two cars making 310 HP would run the exact same times. But you've got to factor in weight, powerband, driver ability, weather, traction, ect, and they just move farther apart.

Peak horsepower means a lot less to performance than the total power curve though. If two engines both make 300rwhp at the same rpm, but one makes 50ft lbs more torque than the other in the midrange, obviously that one is going to run a quicker quarter mile time.

It's all about the area "under the curve", that's where your performance gains are coming from.
